The album features melodic synths and programmed drums, with a cinematic and atmospheric feel throughout, and the focus on songs that stick in your head. Lyrically, the album deals with the themes of loss (“Failure” and “Silenced”), facing your fears (“Sanctuary” and “The Fear”), and even the capitalist system (“The Final Delivery”)!

Misanthrope is the first full-length release by Angry Pete, a German Synth-pop artist who merges Synth-wave and Electropop influences with 80’s nostalgia sounds into his own unique style. The project's music uses a mix of analog, midi, sampling and live recording methods to achieve an often cavernous electronic and vocal sound. "Double Dream" also exhibits a shift in focus throughout the album from conventional song structures to loose and ambient instrumental compositions. J. Czarn is a multi-instrumentalist and artist affiliated with the One void art collective. Follow up to their critically acclaimed second album Rosary (released on 2nd July 2007), Sanctuary continues were Rosary stopped. On this release the duo pass from synth-pop tunes of the first releases to more dark and meditative structures. Swirling post-punk guitars, repetitive synthetic drums and dissonant indefinable noises. Jean-Marc's powerful voice sounds as it was recorded from a long distance and adds an almost choral quality to the music. Minimal hypnotic obsessive sounds both frightening and sacred. Like standing in thick fog in front of the gates of eternity. And in this fog you can meet the ghosts of The Wire, Joy Division, Swans and Cindytalk among others.
